In this pivotal role, you will oversee a highly skilled engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and driving the development of cutting-edge products that meet the market's evolving needs. With your technical expertise and strategic vision, you will streamline engineering and NPD processes, ensuring robust quality control, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration of new technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
· Formulate and execute a comprehensive technical strategy aligned with business objectives and market trends.
· Lead and mentor the engineering and test teams, nurturing a collaborative and innovative environment.
· Provide strategic direction across new product development, engineering, testing, compliance, and quality.
· Engage directly with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into innovative technical solutions.
· Implement strategies to enhance production capabilities, optimise product design, and streamline operations.
· Oversee product and process quality control, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
· Coordinate with the sales and marketing team to ensure product offerings remain competitive and relevant.
· Cost control activities including a focus on value engineering.
The Ideal Candidate:

Our client seeks an accomplished engineering professional with a proven track record of leading teams, managing new product development processes, and delivering comprehensive technical strategies.
· A degree in Engineering or a related manufacturing field is essential.
· Expertise in mechanical engineering would be particularly advantageous.
· Early previous experience may have included mechanical design, production or engineering experience before specialising in technical engineering with a focus on new product development and existing product enhancement.
· Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing engineering setting, as Technical Manager, Head of Technical or Technical Director, managing and developing diverse engineering teams.
· Hands-on experience in new product development and technology evaluation.
· Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver technical strategies aligned with business goals.
· Excellent project management skills, focusing on meeting budgetary, timeline, and objective constraints.
· Strong critical reasoning and problem-solving skills to tackle complex technical challenges.
· Exceptional communication and emotional intelligence to foster collaboration across teams.
· A high degree of business acumen to balance technical needs with business objectives.
· Resilience and the ability to lead by example, inspiring your team through your own actions and skills.
· Pragmatic approach. A proven motivator, mentor and highly visible leader who has successfully worked and engaged with cross functional teams.

Our client is seeking a seasoned Quarry Manager to join a flagship and strategically important hard rock quarry operating in Shropshire.
About the Role:
As the Quarry Manager, you'll be at the helm of their quarrying operations, overseeing the extraction and processing of materials. You'll be instrumental in developing and implementing Quarry Development Plans, ensuring the sustainability and efficiency of our client's operations. Candidates for this role must have current or previous hard rock quarry management experience including drilling and blasting of hard rock such as gritstone or basalt or limestone. Pure sand and gravel or other aggregates would not be relevant as this role requires a seasoned hard rock quarrying professional to lead, manage, coach, mentor and develop the established team. The role is an 8.1c appointment under QR1999 and shot firing and explosive Supervisor qualifications are preferred
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Leadership: Lead a talented team to achieve excellence in quarry operations.
* Financial Acumen: Take charge of the corporate P&L, displaying a keen understanding of the commercial dynamics of quarry management.
* KPI Management: Leverage your experience in meeting and exceeding Key Performance Indicators to drive operations toward efficiency and profitability.
* Geotechnical Expertise: Apply your geotechnical knowledge to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable quarrying practices.
* Development Planning: Craft and execute Quarry Development Plans that align with environmental considerations and our corporate goals.
* Safety and Compliance: Ensure all quarry activities comply with legal and corporate standards, particularly in contracted services such as blasting. Even though direct experience is not necessary, some knowledge in this area would be advantageous.
About You:
* Demonstrable experience in quarry management or a related field, underpinned by a strong understanding of the commercial and operational aspects of the industry.

* A strategic thinker with a proven track record of managing corporate P&Ls and meeting KPIs.
* Strong leadership skills, capable of nurturing a successful team.
* Geotechnical knowledge, with an ability to apply it practically in the context of quarry development and safety practices.
* Experience of quarrying, stripping, restoration, drill and blast operations and geotechnical assessment of hard rock including gritstone, basalt or limestone.
* Familiarity with blasting processes is preferred, though not essential.
* The role is an 8.1c appointment under QR1999 and shot firing and explosive Supervisor qualifications are preferred
* HNC/HND/Degree Qualified or equivalent in Engineering, Mining or Science Discipline or equivalent Quarry Management qualifications such SHE NVQ level 4/QCF level 6, DAPS or equivalent.
* Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Mineral Extractives Technology desirable
