Our client, a global leader in building products manufacturing, is seeking a talented Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join their team at their state-of-the-art production plant in Essex. In this vital role, you'll maintain the site's equipment, ensuring every component operates at peak efficiency. The shift pattern rotates as follows: 6am-6pm, 6pm-6am

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

· Respond swiftly to plant breakdowns, precisely diagnosing and repairing equipment to minimise downtime.

· Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and improvements to maximise the reliability of all plant machinery and equipment.

· Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives, driving plant performance to new heights.

· Contribute to developing and maintaining the Computer Maintenance Management System, ensuring accurate documentation and record-keeping.

· Participate in planning and executing major equipment overhauls and plant shutdowns, coordinating seamlessly with other departments.

 

The Ideal Candidate:

 

· Level 3 Apprenticeship, ONC/NVQ, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering (Qualified by Experience is essential).

· Extensive hands-on experience with maintenance practices, including hydraulics and pneumatics.

· Proficiency in fabrication and welding techniques.

· Familiarity with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) methodologies and continuous improvement practices.

· In-depth knowledge of engineering maintenance principles and practices, particularly in heavy engineering industries.

· Experience with predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, and failure mode analysis.

· Comfortable working with maintenance management systems and databases.

· A keen understanding of mechanical systems, codes, symbols, and drawings.
