Are you an experienced traffic office or transport operations supervisor seeking a hands-on leadership opportunity? Our client's growing logistics company needs an Assistant Depot Manager for their busy Cambridgeshire cross-dock facility. This is your chance to take your career to the next level and join a thriving, family-oriented business.

The Role:

As Assistant Depot Manager, you'll play a crucial part in overseeing the daily transportation and freight handling operations. You'll:

  • Manage shift supervisors and drivers
  • Resolve customer issues
  • Plan complex delivery routes, which may involve multiple stops and time-sensitive deliveries
  • Update fleet systems
  • Ensure compliance with all site Health & Safety regulations

With a mix of office and physical tasks like occasional forklift operation, no two days will be the same.

Your Background:

Significant experience in a traffic office or transport operations environment is essential, ideally with previous supervisory responsibilities. Ideally this will have been gained within a general haulage, contract logistics, third party logistics environment. You should be highly organised with strong Excel skills for reporting, knowledgeable about transport regulations and health/safety protocols, and able to juggle multiple priorities. Importantly, excellent customer service and communication abilities are a must, as you will play a crucial role in managing staff and client relations effectively.

Are You the Ideal Candidate?

You thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative setting and are comfortable occasionally getting hands-on, whether operating machinery or problem-solving dynamic operational challenges. Your background at larger logistics firms gives you an appreciation for efficient practices, but you now prefer a more personal company culture where your contributions are valued, and you feel integral to the team. You're a resilient self-starter who can work independently and contribute to a tight-knit team.

Is this Role the Right Fit?

Based near the A1 in Peterborough, the role involves Monday-Friday hours from 10am-8pm, with flexibility for holidays/peak periods. The compensation package includes a £38,000 to £44,000 salary based on experience, performance bonuses tied to key operational metrics, and holiday entitlement increasing with service. There are also opportunities for growth as our client opens new depots.

If you have the drive, experience, and passion to succeed in this diverse operations role, apply now. This could be the perfect next step to accelerate your career in logistics.
